The School of Chemical, Biological and Materials Engineering at the University of Oklahoma announces an Undergraduate Internship Research Program.
2009 Intern Program Status:
In the past 4 years more than 60 students from all reaches of the globe have come to OU to complete a 3-month research internship. Students have worked on projects that will impact a wide range of industries, including;
- biofuels,
- catalysis,
- bioengineering,
- tissue engineering,
- cell adhesion,
- surfactants,
- molecular and system modeling,
- optimization,
- anti cancer treatments
- … and many others.
Students have come away having experienced cutting edge research that has helped them develop additional skills and to better equip them to make important decisions about their future careers.
So it is with regret that due to unforeseen circumstances the 2009/10 the Intern Program has been postponed until further notice.
Although the program is on-hold, we would like to let you know about our graduate program and opportunities available. We offer graduate opportunities to top scholars on a competitive basis. The application system is similar to the Intern Program, so if you have excellent grades and you’re considering heading to graduate school, I would encourage you explore opportunities at our nationally recognized Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering programs.

The objective of this internship is to bring undergraduate students from other Universities (American universities and Abroad) for a two month program of research with an important goal of motivating them to consider graduate studies at the University of Oklahoma’s Chemical Biological and Materials Engineering (CBME).
Students applying for the program must fulfill the following requirements, (confirmation in the application documents).
- Be seriously considering attending graduate school,
- Open to the idea of joining our Chemical Biological and Materials Engineering (CBME) graduate program after completing your undergraduate degrees.
- You are also expected to be within one and a half (1.5) years of completing your undergraduate education in Chemical Engineering, or closely related field.
Students will be assigned to one professor (or two if the project is collaborative) and will conduct research on a specific topic. At the end of the internship students will give a final presentation of their work on the last day of their internship. A list of the projects offered for each session is available on this page.
Good performance in the internship may earn an invitation to join the graduate programs the next year.
Internships are typically held as Winter and Summer Session (see dates below). If you cannot be here for the COMPLETE session, please do not apply. If any questions please contact: Dr. Peter McFetridge, Internship Coordinator, at pmcfetridge@ou.edu
